Silchar: At least seven students of a college in Assam have been suspended after being caught indulging in an ''inappropriate act'' in the classroom.
As per reports, these suspended boys and girls from class 11 of the college named Ramanuj Gupta College were indulge in hugging and poking in the classroom.
The video of the same was recorded by another student of the same class and later the video was uploaded on social media.
As the video went viral, netizens criticized the students' behaviour and also slammed the college authority which prompted the college authorities to initiate action against the students, and eventually seven students were suspended and barred from attending the college.
In this regard, the college authority also issued notice to the students saying that they were visibly indulged in acts of turpitude behaviour.
''Such types of activities are tantamount to gross violation of discipline of the institution. Therefore the following erring students were suspended from attending the classes for an indefinite period,'' IANS quoted the notice as saying.
"The students did this turpitude act in tiffin hours when no teachers were present. We have CCTV cameras on the college premises and mobile phones were also banned on the campus," the Principal of the college, Purnadeep Chanda told IANS.
He also asserted that the students are from the fresh batch of Class 11 and it has been hardly 15 days since they started to attend the college.
Besides this, the college authority has also summoned the guardians of those seven students, and reportedly the college may take more strict action and the students may be rusticated from the institution.
